New Delhi, Jun 14 (PTI) Hospitality firm Sarovar Hotels and Resorts on Sunday said it is currently operating 41 out of 83 properties in India.
The company manages 86 hotels. Out of these, 83 hotels are in India and three are in Africa.
“Currently, we are operating 41 out of 83 across India. Apart from operating hotels in major cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Jaipur, the list maps out tier II cities also, such as Ranchi, Bhavnagar, Kakinada, Jhansi, Lucknow, Amritsar, Zirakpur and Baddi among others,” Sarovar Hotels and Resorts MD Ajay K Bakaya told PTI.
For all the hotels, the company has put new standard operating procedures in place with focus on health and hygiene of guests and employees, he added.
On being asked about the roadmap for the company going forward, Bakaya said: “Once the lockdown lifted, we are looking at steady recovery. We hope occupancy will be reasonable by October-November, 2020. We can see an increase in short vacation and weekend getaways at a drivable distance from major cities”.
Stating that tourism will be mainly driven by the domestic travellers, he said that even the outbound tourist will travel within the country as foreign travel is impacted due to COVID-19 related restrictions.
“The business hotels will recover faster. We also believe that there will be significant amount of leisure travel,” Bakaya said.
When asked about the timeline for the hospitality sector to get back to its earlier vibrancy, he said: “We see steady recovery from October 2020 and full recovery by October 2021”.
